Angelique Clemens

Angelique Clemens

Angelique is an author and speaker from Detroit, Michigan. She writes biographical fiction around the subjects of loss, #blackgirlmagic, alternative lifestyles, and learning to develop one’s self in a less than supportive world. Her books, generally, address these topics through the lens of the black experience.

Angelique started writing through her love for poetry, but fell in love with writing during high school when she took a stab at short murder mysteries. She co-authored a piece with her mother that was published in Ellery Queen Mystery Magazine in the 90s. A fan of true crime novels and Monkey Shoulder scotch, Angelique followed her passion to work in the field of forensics.

After marrying the love of her life, Angelique decided to write her first novel. The only topic that Angelique knew more than the forensic sciences was the struggles of a professional black woman trying to find love. Can I Borrow Your Skin is her version of a self-help book written as the unrequited love story of a woman with her reflection in the mirror.
